Frequently asked questions

Registering your DSC as an authorised signatory on filing portals.

How do I register my DSC on the income tax or MCA portal?

Log in to the portal, open the register-DSC option in your profile, plug in your token, select your certificate and confirm. This links your signature to your account, by PAN or DIN, so your filings can be signed.

What does 'authorised signatory' mean for a DSC?

An authorised signatory is the person legally allowed to sign on an entity's behalf, such as a director, partner, proprietor or authorised employee. Their personal Class 3 DSC is registered against the entity so the portal accepts their signature.

Why must a DSC be registered before filing?

Portals check that the certificate presented matches the signatory on record. Until you register the DSC against your PAN, DIN or role, the portal will not accept documents signed with it, even if the certificate itself is valid.

Can I register the same DSC on multiple portals?

Yes. One valid Class 3 certificate can be registered separately on GST, income tax, MCA, EPFO and others. Each portal keeps its own registration, so you repeat the register-DSC step on each.

My DSC is registered but filing is rejected. What now?

Common causes are an expired certificate, a mismatch between the signatory details on the portal and the certificate, or the signing utility not being installed. Check the certificate validity and that the registered signatory matches who is signing.
